About
Jacqueline Jannotta is the award-winning author of Let’s Leave the Country! A Guide to Your Family Year Abroad, inspired by her family’s extraordinary year in Genoa, Italy. That book is one facet of her work as a writer, avid genealogist, and forever optimist who is dedicated to building a better vision for the future.
My Story
My career path has been anything but conventional. After graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in TV and Film, I worked in the entertainment industry for studios like Warner Bros and Walt Disney. I went on to develop, produce and write content for trailblazing online entities, which included founding ScoopOnSchools.com. Scoop on Schools was a comprehensive online resource that helped parents in Portland, Oregon navigate and expand the educational possibilities for their children.
My passion for innovation and exploration led to organizing a family year abroad for my husband, myself, and our two daughters. That experience overseas was a powerful re-set. It broadened our perspectives and shaped us for the better. So much so that it inspired Let’s Leave the Country! A Guide to Your Family Year Abroad, as a guide for others to create their own life-changing experiences abroad.
I’ve continued on this life-long exploration of cultural identity, ethnicity and genealogy, as part of discovering and revealing how deeply we’re all connected. Finding those connections—whether ancestral or not—is a thrill for me. And it’s why I’m now offering family research services to others. I truly believe that by better understanding past generations, we create a better world for future generations.
